Important Points To Note
- Based on the patient's weight, determine daily saturation dosage levels as shown in the table below.
- Plan a gradual increase in daily dosage until the patient reaches saturation dosage by day 10.
- Maintain saturation dosage until maximum relief is achieved. This is generally from 2 to 4 months, but can be up to 6 months or more.
- If progress is not satisfactory, gradually increase daily dosage, over another 10-day period, to double saturation dosage as shown in the table. Temporarily maintain that dosage until maximum improvements have occurred.
- After the patient has obtained maximum relief, you may test gradual dosage reductions from week to week, toward average maintenance dosage as shown in the table below.
- Pycnogenol is best consumed twice daily with meals or shortly after meals.
- Tablets can be pulverized and mixed with food or beverages for children, if there is difficulty swallowing tablets.
