The Biblical Healing Plant:
"We are all too familiar with Aloe Vera, for its beneficial healing effects have been well documented since the dawn of man. Our grandparents probably introduced us to it while soothing our burned skin, or applying it to a cut or abrasion. Yes, the Aloe Vera plant is well known for its topical benefits, and today can be found in countless skin preparations. Its ability to soothe, heal and moisturise is unsurpassed, but even lesser known are the topical benefits afforded the medical profession. Not only is it useful in healing burns and lacerations, but also in such areas as surgical wound healing, infectious dermatitis, and in chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis, seborrhea, discoid lupus, precancerous, and cancerous skin lesions. But as impressive as this Biblical plant is in topical use, it pales in comparison to what can be accomplished when consumed internally.
Aloe leaf contains greater health benefitsWhereas Aloe derived for topical use comes from the body of the plant, research has shown the leaf to contain far greater health benefits when processed correctly. Chemical analysis of Aloe Vera reveals varying amounts of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. These components effect a multitude of bodily phenomena critical for maintenance of a strong immune system. But the only way to extract the maximum benefit from the whole leaf without degrading these essential ingredients, is through a method known as cold-pressing. This technique results in a more stable, longer lasting product, containing one of the highest concentrations of perhaps the most significant element of the plant - mucopolysaccharides. The most studied example of this component, to date, is called acemannan: which has tremendous impact on gastrointestinal and immune systems.
Stress, immune system deficiency and maldigestionIn todays world, the importance of a healthy lifestyle including diet and exercise is critical to good health. Affluence and so-called progress have resulted in ever increasing stress from chemicals, infection, and nutrient deficient food. This stress has resulted in the destruction of our immune system. Diseases of immune deficiency such as Epstein-Barr syndrome, Systemic Candidasis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and AIDS have common feature in their symptomatology, that of dysfunctional digestion. The inability of the stomach and intestines to properly break down food causes retention and subsequent absorption of toxic substances through irritated, permeable bowel wall, gaining them access to the general circulation. This initiates an attack by the cells of the immune system and creates an entire cascade of events resulting ultimately in immune deficiency. As well, this maldigestion results in depletion of nutritional transport and resultant cellular starvation leading to generalised organ system dysfunction (including the immune system). If this was not enough, the maldigested food particles sitting in a hypomotile gut provide an excellent culture medium for all types of organisms including parasites and fungus (eg. Candida). This serves to further drain the already depleted immune system and creates a condition of chronic infection.
Aloe impacts on immune deficiency and maldigestionRemarkably, acemannan is able to impact each of these destructive pathways.
Aloe also has been found to contain other remarkable substances and properties, such as:
Claims supported by researchAs regards Aloe Vera (as opposed to Pycnogenol®), we have accumulated in this country a significant body of evidence supporting these claims, and all the above statements are born out of existing and ongoing research from major medical institutions across the United States.
Not all Aloe Vera are created equalI must also caution the public on what brand is purchased, as the laws in this country governing the manufacture of Aloe Vera Juice make it easy to sell junk. Unfortunately, of the few hundred brands on the market, only a handful contain enough Aloe to talk about. My research has again led me to a brand produced by the same company in Colorado. Their product is whole-leaf, cold-processed, and contains the essential mucopolysaccharides in their optimal form. My experience with this particular brand, both personal and professional, have shown it to be free of side effects and as you will use shortly, extremely effective in a number of medical conditions. I sincerely believe that this natural product, too, should be taken on a daily basis by every individual, whether healthy or not. I also foresee further studies emerging touting additional benefits of this amazing plant."
